The 35th annual Rappahannock House Tour and Dried Flower Sale, sponsored by the Episcopal Churchwomen of Bromfield Parish, will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20, in historic Washington, Va.
The three houses selected for this year’s tour will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Headquarters for the event will be the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
The Parish Hall will also serve as sales room for the hundreds of dried flower arrangements prepared by ladies of Trinity Church and others in the community.
The first of the tour houses is Ridge View, the home of William and Isabelle Remington, outside Flint Hill off Route 630. Situated on a slight ridge and facing west, it overlooks a small valley and has a magnificent view of The Peak and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This lovely, bright and airy contemporary cedar-sided home was built by the Remingtons in 1986 and 1987, as Bill Remington says, “from the inside out—form follows function.” They considered their desires and needs as to room number and size, purpose and arrangement and encased these in 2-by-6 studded walls with large expanses of glass and the whole covered with a widely overhanging hip roof reminiscent
