Norris exhibits at Middle St.
This month's exhibit at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington, Va. is "Wildlife Sculpture" by gallery member Maggi Morris of Castleton. Also in the show are selected paintings by David Zimmerman and group sculptures by Rappahannock children.
The opening reception for the show is 4 pjn.-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at the gallery in Washington, Va. One of Mr. Zimmerman's paintings will be auctioned off at 6 p.m. during the reception. Proceeds will benefit the gallery.
Attending the opening will be Edik Gladkov, a four-year honorary gallery member. Mr. Gladkov's photos were handdelivered through underground channels when he first began exhibiting at Middle Street. A recent Corcoran show of Russian photography included some of his work, and his documentation of "Poverty in Russia" accompanied a Washington Post series this summer.
He was introduced to Middle Street through Robin Purnell, a Rappahannock artist who currently lives in Leningrad. Her husband, John, is stationed there with the U.S. Department of State.
Mr. Gladkov will visit the public schools, where a small exhibition of his work is planned.
Also at Middle Street this month, "Creative Expression by Children," consisting of group sculpture made by kids at the Child Care and Learning Center, Camp Fantastic and Youth Experiencing Success camp, will be on display.
