noted that the county has had two Extension agents but has only one now since agriculture agent Thomas Williams left for another job. Mr. McCarthy said that the advisory committee will interview applicants to replace Mr. Williams but the position is only funded through June.
Del. Wood and Sen. Robb both said that cards and letters from constituents had helped win funding for the Extension Service last year and urged people to continue to send such letters. Sen. Robb urged those asking for support for the program to send the letters and postcards to the chairmen of the finance committees in.both houses.
Both men said they were former 4-H members and support 4-H activities, but warned that rural areas have less influence in the General Assembly than they had a few years ago.
