place for heart patients who need to find a new way of life, which consists of pain, brought about by diet and exercise. Since I happened to have the money and a heart I went.
Two weeks and 14 pounds later I was slim and happy. I continued the program until a son came to live with me. Well any mother can tell you, these children should have good solid food. I happen to be a good cook and you can’t cook without partaking of it.
You know what these growing young people need? Liver and bacon, mashed potatoes and gravy, string beans with little pork in it for flavor, lemon meringue pie. I was soon 40 pounds overweight. (The son never gained a pound!)
There were interim efforts that failed. In ’91 I decided that the only real effective method had to cost money. I went to a fat farm in Durham, N.C., for two weeks. I lost 10 lbs. at a cost of $200 a pound. I am now 45 lbs. overweight. Or is it 50?
The questions is: Would I weigh the same if I had never made an effort and never spent a penny?
Keep those cards and letters coming! Whoopee!
