Hikers get out your binoculars, wool socks and comfortable walking shoes and meet chief forest warden Raymond Johnson at the Sperryville Elementary School at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The first hike of the Fall season will be about 3 miles along the crest of the Blue Ridge between the Pinnacles and Mary’s Rock. The grade is steady with no difficult climb.

Cadet Douglas K. Baumgardner,
of Washington, is one of 22 seniors at the Virginia Military Institute to be named to the current issue of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” The group was selected by a facultycadet committee on the basis of academic and extracurricular records and general contributions to VMI. Cadet Baumgardner, a dean’s list student in economics, also is academically distinguished, a recognition signifying outstanding academic achievement beyond that of dean’s list standing. Cadet Baumgardner was graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria before entering VMI. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Baumgardner, of Route 1, Washington.
