I.L. Parrish, prominent beef
cattleman from the Viewtown area has won the “1962 Conservationist of the year” award for Rappahannock County. The award was presented by Culpeper Soil Conservation District Supervisor Gen. Daniel Noce at a banquet held at the DeVivi Restaurant in Orange Thursday night, October 18. The annual award is presented to the outstanding conservation farmer from each of the six counties comprising the Culpeper Soil Conservation District. Mr. Parrish won the award on the basis of the outstanding conservation job he has done over the past fourteen years. The 376 acre farm has been operated as a beef cattle unit since Mr. and Mrs. Parrish purchased it shortly after the close of World War III.
Trinity Episcopal Church has for sale an 11 x 26 wine colored Olsen rug. It was announced that bids should be sent to Mrs. W.A. Miller. However, she received three oral bids, the two highest being identical. Mrs. Miller now requests that bids be sent in a sealed envelope marked “Rug Bids” to Mrs. C.T.
