Services board to meet
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. in the Library of the Lord Culpeper Building, 401 South Main St., Culpeper.

NSDAR to meet
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will meet at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Culpeper United Methodist Church in Culpeper. Mr. Jesse E. Pond Jr. will speak on “Reminiscences of the Defense of Pearl Harbor - 50 Years After.”
Rappahannock's haunted house
The Rappahannock County Library’s First Friday Series presents an evening of stories about Rappahannock County’s haunted houses and the ghosts that have inhabited them. The program begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 at the Library. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Call the library at 675-3780 for more information.

Story hour at library
The Rappahannock County Library’s preschool story hour is continuing on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. through Nov. 17. Karla Miller, a volunteer firefighter, will present a program on fire safety on Nov. 10. All preschoolers and their parents are invited to attend. For more information call 675-3780.
Educator's conference scheduled
The PTO of Rappahannock Elementary School is holding the second annual Rappahannock Educator’s Conference from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at Rappahannock High School.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Creating the Learning Community.” Teachers in public and private schools, home-schoolers, youth workers, parents, students, businesses and community organizations are invited to attend. The conference is free of charge and no pre-registering to attend is necessary. Participants may come for just the morning or afternoon sessions or attend all day. Bring a bag lunch. Workshop planned
Workspace for Coreographers presents the “Singing Body; The Dancing Voice,” a day-long workshop in sound and movement with Cathy Paine. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14. Cost is $25. Call Sally Nash at 987-9234 for further information.
What's up?
A reliable witness has reported observing a group of apparently hard bitten men entering the high school at dusk on more than a few evenings recently. The group entered quietly but with obvious determination. An aura of camaraderie lay heavily about them.
Our witness also reports seeing a young woman of unknown background accompanying them, and strange as it sounds, a very young puppy, a very old dog and a mouse.
Speculations as to their purpose and origin have been just that, idle speculations. Stay tuned to this column for further information.
