To the Editor:
Charles Francis attacked Walter Day’s column in the letters to the editor section of your Oct. 28 issue.
He finds fault, among other things, with Day’s syntax, his sense of organization, and his tendency to dwell on intensely personal matters.
For me, Day’s highly idiosyncratic style makes his column the most interesting piece in the whole newspaper. Too much of what we get in all the public media these days is prefabricated, predigested pap, produced and processed by specialist spin doctors for mass, faceless audiences. If that is what Mr. Francis prefers, let him stick to television.
