As is his form, Wood let high-, weighted, 12-year-old Topeador* carrying 183 pounds, roll from the; start to grab an early lead.
“Made Up got moving pretty! quickly,” said Henry of his bay geld-; ing. “I kept to the inside and saved! ground.” That pair led from the second of 18 fences onwards.“I knew! Henry [Wood] had a chance to catch! me, so I really rode to the last.”
Topeador threatened to close the: three-length gap to the flying leader in the long stretch drive. However,rider Wood was lacking a neccessityi for a fight to the wire: “I dropped my whip!” Wood grinned afterwards.
“I think Topeador was a little tired from his hard try [placing second to series co-leader Thanks Henry] last week at Rappahannock,” he continued.
At the wire, it was Made Up crossing the line first, getting up by a neck over Topeador. Not far backwas Commanding Dance in third.
