on log cabin
To the Editor:
I have some information concerning the log house pictured in the March 24 issue of the fta/i/Mihaiiiitick Xtor*.
Mrs. Nancy Smedley Beahm, with whom I was well acquainted, told me that the last known person to live in this old house was Mr. Bob Scott. The house stands (stood) on property of Roy Pullen Sr., whose parents. Clyde and Lillie Dwyer Pullen "gifted" him with it. Clyde and Lillie Pullen bought it from Lillie's father, Thomas Booten Dwyer.
Boot Dwyer had bought the property from Jim and John Jones, who had obtained it from John and Mollje Monroe Fineham. Mollie's father, Silas J. Monroe, bought it from William and Elizabeth L. Scott, in July 1875. Elizabeth Scott inherited the same from her greatgrandfather, James L. Green Si-, whose will was probated Oct. 14. 1844. This document mentions the several tracts of land in his will, one bought from a Mr. Smith and from Gabriel Wiley and wife. Mr. Green had also bought land from Abner Sims and a Mr. Wright.
It might be helpful to mention that Abner Sims was a forefather of the Racers and Gore and Houghton families.
