The weekend was a pair racer’s delight as the Warrenton Hunt and Old Dominion Hounds hosted wellattended hunter paces back-to-back.
Mike Brown riding Oliver’s Tiger and Joyce Sims on Mqjor Nuisance captured the fast time pair race at Warrenton on Saturday, April 3.
Finishing the three-mile, 14fence rolling course in 7:02.5, the Rappahannock Hunt pair defeated their only challengers, Suzanne Cummings on Nighthorse and Ted Miller on Spruzzone. The win now secures Sims and Brown a hefty lead in the Southern States fast time series.
Representing the Old Dominion Hounds, Jack Hutcheson on Luke and Kathy Baldwin on Imperial Breeze practically perfected the obscure optimum time strategy. Hutcheson and Baldwin won War: renton’s senior optimum time Saturday then placed second at Old Dominion’s pace event Sunday.
“Our strategy is to have fun,” said Hutcheson following the Warrenton win. “We just had a great time.”
The pair of Ken Alphin on Count of Orlean and Walter Burton on Sunday’s Blessing captured the optimum time win at Old Dominion, finishing the 3'/2-mile challenging
