Woodville and Forest Grove Baptist churches will join together to sponsor a sunrise service to be held at 6:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 11 near the lookout tower on Red Oak Mountain, just outside the Woodville community. This service represents a long-standing cooperative effort by the sponsoring church fellowhips to provide the Rappahannock County community with an unique opportunity to preclaim the Good News of the Risen Christ on this holiest of Chrsitian holy day.

According to past tradition, this year’s sunrise service will be led by the pastors and lay persons of the sponsoring churches.

The service will open with an invocation led by the Rev. L. Starke Jones, pastor of the Woodville Baptist Church. The sermon will be presented by the Rev. Sidney E. Rodriguez, pastor of the Forest Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Thomas Everett, pastor of the Amissville Baptist Church will close the service by pronouncing the benediction.

Special music will be provided by the Amissville Baptist Church. The congregation will participate through the singing of Easter hymns.

Following this year’s sunrise service the Forest Grove Baptist Church of Viewtown will be serving breakfast at the Forest Grove school house, located at the intersection of Rts. 729 and 642, near Viewtown.
