Mr. Peer said he estimated that about 2,000 acres in Rappahannock might qualify for sludge application. He said that the firm is now applying sludge to corn land and will be applying it to hay and pasture during the summer months.

Chairman Hubert Gilkey asked those in the audience whether they favored allowing sludge application. All but Mr. Kumli said they did.

The board voted to allow Clerk Diane Bruce to contract with the county Historical Society to preserve county records. Ms. Bruce said she had received a grant from the state to help preserve her records and that the Historical Society is interested in contracting to perform the work as a way of making money for the society.
