RAA signup
The RAA Baseball for ages 16-18 signup and tryouts will be held 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 16 at Stuarts Field in Amissville.
Custom Cruisers at AVFD
Custom Cruisers of Northern Virginia will be at the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30.
The rain or shine event will feature a model car contest, door prizes, music, bingo, raffles and games for adults and children. Public admission is $7 per person or $13 per couple.
A call for entries
Artists of all ages and mediums are invited to submit work or slides of work in any medium June 12 for Middle Street Gallery’s July show honoring the Rappahannock River. There is a $10 entry fee. Three pieces may be submitted. Children do not need to pay an entry fee. The children’s work will be displayed at the Rappahannock County Library during the month of July. Accepted work should be brought to the Gallery on June 27. The work need not be for sale. If it is, the artist receives a 60 percent commission. Call 675-3440 for an entry form.
Series continue at Library
Learn the newest techniques and oldest secrets of flower arranging at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 7 at the Rappahannock County Library, when the Library’s First Friday Series presents “Flow'er Arranging: Back to Basics”, with members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club. The program will be in the Library’s meeting room, with refreshments to follow. Admission is free.
Spring concert at RCES
The R.C.E.S. Choral/General Music program will present a “Springtime Extravaganza.” This music performance-informance will take place in the R.C.E.S. multi-purpose room on Thursday, May 13.
This Spring concert will consist of: second grade’s “Reading Rainbow”, kindergarten’s “Mother’s Day program”, 5th, 6th, 7th grade chorus and general music students. Bring your mom, dad, sister, brother, grandparents, little children, and friends to the concert and eiyoy the show.
As always, our concerts are free and open to the public. We are asking, however, that everyone bring in a canned item for the needy. The elementary school will have box/table to place your donations.
Grigsby reunion
The families of Paul, Silas and John Grigsby will hold a reunion at 12 noon on Sunday, May 16 at the Rappahannock Park on U.S. 211 near Washington. Those attending should bring a covered dish. For information call 937-4394 or 937-5927.
Aerobic classes
A new eight week aerobic session will begin May ,10. The morning classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For information call Beth Levick, 675-3108.
Country dance scheduled
The Bluemont-Rappahannock Dance Committee announced a special dance on Saturday, June 5 to make up for the winter dances lost to snow. The dance will be held at the Rappahannock Elementary School with Carlotta Wellington calling and a Portion of Possums playing lively oldtime stringband music.
The dance will be at 8 p.m. with a beginner’s workship at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, $3 for Bluemont Friends. All are welcome.

Benefit performance
“From My Family’s Album” will be presented by the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Culpeper Middle School Forum. The performance by Ki Theatre’s Julie Portman, features Portman’s funny and loving portraits of her parents, Katie and Ronald. The performance will benefit the aging programs of the board: meals, transportation, home care and advocacy. For tickets at $20 each call 825-3100.
