Ball teams fall
Both baseball and softball teams lost home games against Page County Tuesday and away games against Brentsville Thursday.
Of the Page baseball game Coach Mike Tupper said, “Leroy North pitched an outstanding game. He pitched well enough to win,” but Page won 5 to 0.
Three of the Page runs came on a controversial hit. The ball apparently hit right fielder J.C. Welch’s glove and then went through the bushes and out of play.
On the home field balls hit over the brush fence in that area are ruled doubles, and only one run would score on such a hit, but because Welch got his glove on the ball before it went out of play the runners were allowed to continue around the bases.
