The Rappahannock County Garden Club teamed up with VDOT in creating a flower bed in the- median of 211 bypass opposite Washington. After spraying with weed killers last fall VDOT has planted the chosen area with Cosmos seed provided by the Rappahannock County Garden Club.
The project is part of “Operation Wildflower” a goal of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs and the National Federation of Garden Clubs. In the past ten years the VFGC has donated literally thousands of bulbs and iris roots as well as thousands of pounds of seed for the use by the highway department for planting on Virginia Highways.
Rappahannock County Garden Club, whose president is Mrs. James White of Flint Hill, is proud to have brought some of this activity to our county and we all look forward to see the bloom this summer.
