In the Brentsville game the baseball team hit much better but still came up short, 25 to 11. “We were making contact with the ball throughout the game,” Coach Mike Tupper said, “but Brentsville just out hit us,” getting two home runs, three triples, one double and 12 singles.
“We pulled to within five runs in the fifth inning, but they continued to score at will,” Tupper said. He noted that there are no fences around the Brentsville field and that a ball hit over the outfielder’s head continued to roll.
“It wasn’t a well pitched ballgame, and they are an excellent hitting team,” he said, adding that he believes Rappahannock will do better against the Brentsville team next week when the Panthers have the home field advantage.
