We had a wonderful May Day Festival - lots of people, fun and good food. The pony rides were a real hit. The weather was great and it felt good to spend the day outside. It may be hard to settle the children into their schoolwork for this final month of school!
The pre-school classes are busy working on their Mother’s Day presents. The kindergarten class will host a tea for their mothers, featuring full service by the children.
Meanwhile, the grade school class is trying to concentrate on their studies and are really looking forward to another presentation by the Virginia Wildlife Center on Friday, May 14. The last program was well attended and very interesting.
We are organizing for next year’s classes already. We have been accepting preschool applications for two weeks, and are ready to begin interviewing potential grade school children, grades one through three. There has also been discussion about making more of our academic activities available to the home-schooled children. Wildf lowers
on display
The seventh annual Spring Wildflower Weekend will be presented in Shenandoah National Park on May 14-16. A wide variety of programs featuring the Park’s spring wildflowers will be offered throughout the weekend.
The event is presented by the National Park Service and is sponsored in part by the Shenandoah Natural History Association and the ARA Virginia Sky-Line Company. Programs and tours will be provided by volunteers from local colleges, universities and naturalist societies, as well as by National Park Rangers.
