Eastham, Mike Jenkins and Paul Brown.

The baseball team is now 0 and 2 in games that count for the district tournament and 1 and 5 overall. Richie Lillard and Paul Brown lead the team in hitting. Lillard is hitting .400 and Brown .318.

After winning their first three games, the softball team lost the next three and now stands 0 and 2 in the district also.

On Tuesday they lost to Page 29 to 20. “We outhit them, 26 to 20, but still lost,” Coach Renee Leake reported. Marsha Freeman and Cindi Welch each went 5 for 5 in hits in the game. Laura McNear was 3 for 3 and Deitrich Beaver was 3 for 4.

The team lost at Brentsville 14 to 13, but Mrs. Leake believes the team should have won and lost because of a bad call. Lori Paratore leads the team in batting with a .750 average. Marsha Freeman has a .700 average; Emma Swatman is batting .600 and Cari Kerr has a .500 average.

Susan Payne, who pitched most of the team’s first four games, was off the team last week, but has returned for this week’s games.
