“We teach total equine management and riding skills in our summer riding camp,” said Dafna Laurie, manager and instructor of the Mountain Spring Stable on Route 620 in Sperryville.
Riding is emphasized, but “students learn it all, from how to catch the horse in the field to grooming horses and cleaning up tack and stalls,” she added.
The stable is holding three separate five-day camps this summer for children age 7-15. All riding levels are accepted, from beginners through experts. Students can bring their own horse. A limited number of horses are available at the stable.
