Dorothy Cross

Mrs. Dorothy Elaine Cross, 69, of Culpeper, died on Monday, June 14 at her residence.

She was bom on October 2, 1923 in Paris, Texas to the late Janies Apple and Ruby Crain Apple.

She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. William M. Cross Jr. (tJSA Ret.) of Culpeper; three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Lea Ruppert of Silver Spring, Md., Mrs. Anne Michele Faville of Blacksburg, and Mrs. Geri Laine Hudson of Banco; two sons, William M. Cross III of Fairfax and Jon Sherman Cross of Castleton.

She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-granchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 18 at the Ft. Myer Chapel in Arlington with the Rev. John Patrick Baker officiating.

Interment followed in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 715, Culpeper, 22701.

Jean Shaffer

Mrs. Jean F. Shaffer, 53, of Culpeper, died on Tuesday, June 15 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

She was bom in Rappahannock County on March 29,1940.

She was a member of Culpeper Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert W. Fincham and her husband, Ernest Vernon Shaffer.
