After becoming ike capital of Tyrol, Innsbruck reached a peak of building and beautification by the 16th century during the reign of the llapshurg Kmperor Maximilian I and continued under the Empress Maria Theresa. Evidence that the city has retained its medieval grandeur is apparent throughout many of Innsbruck's points of interest.
