In another measure of local wealth 18 percent of Rappahannock students qualify for free or reduced price school lunches. This is below the state rate of 26 percent, Culpeper’s rate of 32 percent, Madison’s rate of 21 percent, Page’s rate of 24 percent and Warren County’s rate of 20 percent but above the Fauquier County rate of 15 percent.
OAP statistics also show that 67 percent of county adults are high school graduates. This is below the state rate of 75 percent and Fauquier County’s rate of 79 percent. It is the same as the rate for Culpeper and higher than Madison’s rate of 63 percent, the Page County rate of 55 percent and the Warren County rate of 65 percent.
Rappahannock County has one of the smallest school systems in the state, with 992 students in Average Daily Membership in 1991-92. This is about half the size of Madison County’s school system with 2,883 students and considerably smaller than
