Members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club enjoyed a visit to the Blandy Experimental Farm near Boyce, Virginia for their regular meeting on July 21. Blandy Farm is a research center of the University of Virginia and includes 150 acres that were declared the State Arboretum of Virginia in 1986 by the General Assembly. The plantings include mature stands of many native and exotic trees. The arboretum is open to the public, admission free, every day of the year from dawn to dusk.Club members were enthusiastic over the many gardens and surrounded Docents Susanna Lockley and Beverly Larson who escorted the group around the grounds. Many questions were asked about plant identification, where plants could be obtained, and the growing conditions required.
