With no one else to speak on the' application, the supervisors expressed their opinions. Hamptonr District representative Mike Massie said the Planning Commission had" paid attention to those who objected' to the application by requiring that; the property be screened and that the business not use the 30-foot right-of-way to the east that serves, the Jenkins and Clark properties.' He said that thqre are “many organizations with more authority than the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors to protect wetlands.” '

Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham said he had walked over the property and it only has poison ivy and a few old apple trees' on it now. “The best use of the property is with the existing facility," he said. He said the value of neighboring properties would go up. Finally he said, “We need to do everything we can to provide employment for people who live in the county. ”

Stonewall-Hawthom District representative Robert Andersorf asked that lights shine toward, no£ away, from the building. Like the; other members he said he was con*cemed that the screening provisions be enforced. *

Mr. Estes said that the people im his district were in favor of the re” zoning because of the jobs offered at the Faith Mountain Company.

Mr. Massie, noting that the property is in his district, said that he believes the business will “enhance” the district. He said the opponents “are people I consider my friends.”’* He made the motion to approve the’ rezoning saying, “I would rather be* in court explaining why I voted for; this than why I voted against it.” •*;
