Lynn returned from the convention with the distinction of being among the top 20 award winners from the 1500 participants in the various competitions. For this distinction. she received a sweepstakes trophy. Welby received a total of 17 awards, including first place ribbons in Open Certamen and in oil and acrylic artwork, third in Roman history, English oratory, modern myth, sculpture, and pen and ink. Welby won fifth through tenth place awards in Greek derivatives; quotes, mottoes and abbreviations; Latin derivatives; Roman private life; Latin literature; Latin pentathlon; English essay: pencil; charcoal; mixed media; and miscellaneous.
Andrews Inglis, Washington, also attended the convention and won first place in modern myth in the category for grades 8 and below. Andrew placed among the top ten in Hellenic history, Roman history, Latin derivatives, Roman private life, and in pencil artwork. WCDS junior Tim Inglis, Washington, was also a member of the student group.
