For investors holding fewer than 100 shares, Fauquier National Bank is offering to buy back its common stock at $65 per share.
Information released by the bank’s board of directors states that the offer applies to 131 of the Warrenton-based bank’s 457 shareholders.
Recently the stock has traded in the -$50 to $52-per-share range, according to Bev Crouch of Scott and Stringfellow stock brokerage in Warrenton.
“The price they’re offering is book value,” Crouch said of the buyback offer.
The 326 stockholders that own more than 100 shares each are not included in the repurchase offering, which is slated to run through Sept. 30.
According to Stan Parsons, a vice president and cashier with FNB, any repurchased shares will be retired by the bank.
