plied in the County. Now I would like to know' where public officials are going to spread “This Product," as it was so politely called at the public hearing, if the adjacent counties won’t accept it. Are the very farmers who have been denied the right to apply the sludge then forced to help Counties’ problem? I suppose these farmers could refuse, but I don’t believe so, they understand what it means to have social responsibility.

Homework
Comes First
To the Editor:
Yet another public hearing on sludge was held recently. Of those who spoke in opposition the sludge use, most had not done their homework and freely admitted to simply voicing fears and/or questions about the product and its application. A few others spoke in opposition for reasons which were vague but this group too was unclear on the facts. The overwhelming majority, those favoring sludge use, had done some investigation, field visits and read the available literature.
I would like to suggest the time to do homework is before the meeting and certainly, in the case of commission members, before voting.
It is discouraging to know' an ignorant minority reigns in Rappahannock.

Twice a year the conservative New American magazine rates every Congressman and Senator on 20 excessive appropriation bills. A negative vote is 5 points, a vote for a bill is 0 points.
