Japan is Awesome!

By COURTNEY WELCH

Rappahannock News Contributing Writer

I stayed in Miyazaki, Japan, a southern city on Kyushu island. It was very beautiful, with white sandy beaches and palm trees.

My host family was very kind. I had three host sisters that were very creative. They taught me how to make origami and paper flowers. They were very interested ip teaching me their language so I now know a fair amount of Japanese.

The food was ok. I tried everything. I ate raw fish, raw beef, horse, octopus, squid, cuttlefish, eagle and much more I couldn’t identify. We ate rice everyday, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I really enjoyed eating with chopsticks and became very well at it.
