hmhi—Hi N«w» 9UffWriter i February’s meeting of the Town of Washington Planning Commission was called specifically to elect officers.
"After serving as our chairman for over five years, I think it is time for new blood,” said Louise van Dort.
Ms. van Dort distributed ballots to members Stu Willis, Mitzie Young, Susan Parrish and Steve Critzer.
Ms. Parrish volunteered to be chairman. Mr. Critzer indicated that he will be running for town council, he plans to drop the ARB, and so would rather not continue to be secretary for the town planning commission. 1
In fact, nobody wished to be voted in as secretary. Ms. van Dort said, “The planning commission will only sit if there is a subdivision or if the Town Council wants something developed into a new ordinance. We redo and update the ordinances every four years. They just had a major overhaul. It’s possible that a permanent employee will be hired and they will be required to attend the town council, ARB and planning commission meetings to produce and distribute minutes.”
When the ballots were returned to Ms. van Dort and counted, four votes were tallied for Susan Parrish as chairman; and three votes for Mitzie Young to be secretary. Ms.
