Dr. Gangel said he had numerous requests from parents for a stronger program for gifted and talented students, but he had not included the position for a special teacher for that group of students because of the increase already included from county funds. “I would greatly desire to have the teacher in,” he said.
Frances Thornton, who represents Piedmont District, said she had heard from amny parents who wonder why so much is spent on special education and so little for gifted students.
