Thank you for your insightful and concerned editorial in the Feb. 23 paper on the relationship of art and education. As you state, “..a truly educated person knows and appreciates the arts. The best door to that knowledge and appreciation is experience in making art. And for many students that arts also provide the door to the rest of knowledge.”
As a former teacher and life-long student of art, I can’t imagine a better statement with respect to the importance of art and education than the one you have made. Art allows us to distinguish our animal selves as human beings.
