out as large numbers of new people arrive. People will look away from the city for housing because land prices are lower. There will be great population pressure to the west of the Disney site.
Of course, the larger number of residents will mean more business, but it was not the businesses that were already established in and around Orlando that prospered after Disney World arrived. When the population reaches a certain level small merchants are forced out by every larger chain stores. Banks, hotels and chain restaurants did prosper, but local business did not.
If you believe that northern Virginia is under populated, supportthe Disney proposal. If you dread driving into Washington, D.C. today because of the traffic, it will get much worse. Adding another lane or two to U.S. 66 will no compensate for the traffic to Disney and the cars of the new population.
