the coming year are threefold. First, we want to enhance our existing programs of basic and GED instruction by incorporating the use of interactive, technical teaching aids.
Second, we propose to continue a Family Literacy program, in cooperation with the county library this summer, to encouraged parents to read with their pre-school children so as to prepare them to enter school with a positive attitude and a good chance of success. We hope that some of the parents in the program will come to us for help in improving their own reading skills.
Finally, we think that there are some tradesmen, equipment operators, and the like, who though skilled in their respective trades, are unable to meet applicable licensure requirements because of their inability to read well. We intend to obtain the necessary codes and technical manuals as teaching tools to help such people achieve their specific technical goals.
