Over the last two months of the election and post-election activities in Washington, Va., I have sometimes felt that it was twenty-five years ago and I was back in Vietnam wondering when the next mortar round would come in and whether it would be directed to me.
Most of the candidates felt the same way. Some candidates were both perpetrators and targets. They and other people irt Town participated in passing rumors, repeating statements of innuendo, and generally distributing fallacies as if they were true. Sources remained anonymous, although not always.
