He has a B.A. in Music Education from St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh.
He taught choral music for five years before pursuing a career as a gospel recording artist and songwriter. Now his music has taken him across the United States as well as to the Bahamas and Bermuda. He has received nominations for several Stellar and Soul Train Gospel Awards.
Miss Butler said the Association recently started the Union Scholarship Fund and hopes to award two scholarships this spring. The Association includes churches in five counties including five churches in Rappahannock County.
Gospelfest begins at 7:45 Friday night. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door for adults. Student tickets are $7, and children under three are free.
