The population density will increase and well have to build new schools. Where will you get the money for that but to raise taxes? We will need more law enforcement. That’s all you need for urban sprawl to come to Rappahannock County... Cows don’t ride school buses.”
Col. Bingham said he favored studying the issue. “Fifty-eight percent of the land in land use is owned by out of county investors. We’re just giving them a free ride. I don’t see people lined up to move in. Growth is the direct result of population expansion and eventually it has to come this way. 1 think we have many years to go, but it appears to me we’re taxing some of our older people right out of their houses.”
Ron Frazier said, “If you listen to anyone in Northern Virginia, they / will tell you houses don/t pay for themselves, but that’s what we’re doing. You’re going to have to look at some way to increase the tax base...bring small non-poluting businesses into the community.”
