The expense budget is $121,750, an increase of $24,330 over last year’s. An increase in the capital expenses account of $15,000 for consulting and engineering (planning and design) makes up the majority of this figure. A request for $4,850 in the payroll account is another large part of this amount.
The budget also requests $13,000 for the Fire Department, down from $16,070 last year.
The only two increases for the Town of Washington Water Works are an extra $500 budgeted for electric power, and an increase of $350 for payroll.
Mr. Fisher reported that he had talked with the VML insurance company about the insurance on the Town Hall. He was told that the town is covered for liability for outside groups. The insurance company will not disallow candles, but Mr. Fisher felt that the town should have some luminaries on hand, such as votives or covered candles.
Diane Bruce said that the council should send a letter of thanks to Curtis Crawford, who has worked “beyond the call of duty” on the new water system while Ray Pullen has been out ill.
