had begun their soccer careers playing on the U6 team.
The league plays teams mostly in Culpeper and Madison counties, and some in Fauquier County. Some of the older players have joined Culpeper and Fauquier travel teams, since Rappahannock did not have enough players to have their own travel team.
This allowed several players to play indoor soccer in Fairfax County this past January through April. Mr. Price said that indoor soccer is a much faster game because the ball is in play much more so than outdoor games.
The league has fall and spring teams which practice on the elementary school and high school fields. The league would love to have a couple of their own regulation size fields, however. Mr. Price said that since the league gets no money from, the county for the program, they need to raise their own. They also need someone to do the fundraising for them. “We can exist for $1,500 a season, which covers insurance and equipment. Our next investment will be four new goals, which will probably cost around i;$5,000,” he said. The league wants to purchase metal goals which last a long time, and are easier to move around than the wooden ones presently in use at the elementary school.
Two soccer camps will be held this sumiher. The first one will run from June 27 through July 1, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and will be held in Culpeper.
