Off we flew down the Fodderstack Road. I screamed out questions as fast as I could as we drove along. Sometimes I would have to tell Douglas to slow down, when it looked like there were going to be several questions within a short distance.
We hit our first real snag. We needed to answer what the “fake fowl” were, on the right hand side of the road somewhere between Caledonia Farm and where Superman dons his country cape (at the telephone at Foster Brothers Packing House). We couldn’t find any “fake fowl” anywhere, but knowing the county, we guessed the answer was ducks, and that was right. We were also proud that we figured out the answer to the Superman question.
Our next big problem was the answer to this: “The president we don’t remember, is taught in school starting each September, now this road is named for him, get his name and you might win!” We just weren’t observant enough, I guess, because we heard later that there was a highway sign for the Zachary Taylor Highway. We must have been too busy looking for the name of Hittles Mill stream, the rooves which “like a thumb they stick out bright, shining like a beacon in the night”, the hydrant, the chimney, and Sunny
