The Rappahannock County Library’s summer reading program, “Reading is a Magic Trip,” started on June 23 with “Cartooning for Kids,” presented by Jim Sizemore. He taught the participants how to use simple shapes as the basis for drawing their own cartoon characters.
■ Rappahannock’s own Lorraine Duisit Espinola presented a marvelous, spirited musical program composed of various songs she had . written since moving to live in the country. She accompanied herself on the autoharp, mandolin, and guitar. “Strawberry picking,” “Ratatouille,” and the honking horn song were some of the group’s favorites.
Tina Liza Jones from Floyd County, Va. presented a lively and instructive musical program. The participants were invited to join in the singing of old and new favorites. Ms. Jones taught the participants how to sign the words to “I don’t want to stay with the baby sitter.”
