Rappahannock News Contributing Writer • Members of the Rappahannock . County Garden Club held their August meeting amid a veritable fairyland of blossoms. The program for the meeting was presented by Stef phen Shifflett from Floradise Orchids in Gordonsville who brought along dozens of Orchid plants for his lecture. He discussed the many types of Orchids he grows and breeds, the general culture requirements including humidity and temperature of different types, and the level of care and attention they need. He made Orchid growing sound so simple that several Club members decided to give it a try and purchased plants on the spot. (

Adding to the display of blooms were arrangements by Club members to illustrate this month’s theme of “Summer Elegance.” The blue ribbon in this category was won by Helen Holschuh. Horticulture exhibits included vegetables and flowers, and blue ribbons were awarded to Mary Revercomb, Frances Russell,
