To the Editor.
This year Republicans have an historic opportunity to regain control of the US Senate and stop Bill Clinton’s efforts to socialize and destroy our health care system dead in its tracks. But we won’t have the votes in the Senate to make this happen unless Virginia elects Oliver North to the U.S. Senate.
One vote makes a huge difference in the Senate. Last year, Senator Chuck Robb cast the tie breaking votes to pass the largest tax increase in American history. If Oliver North had been there on that day last year, he would have voted with our Senior Senator John Warner and our taxes would be lower today because of it. We would not have an increase in our gas tax and we would not be paying significant new retroactive taxes if Oliver North had been in the Senate last year instead of Chuck Robb.
Chuck Robb has voted against Virginia’s defense industry time and time again. His support of Bill Clinton’s defense cuts will cost Virginia over 70,000 jobs in the years to come. Oliver North has pledged to rebuild our nation’s defenses if he is elected to the Senate, especailly in the face of growing threats from around the world.
The bottom line is that this year may well be the best time this century that we can elect a majority of Republicans to the Senate. If we do that, Bill Clinton is a one term President and his liberal agenda goes nowhere.
