for the team. She graduated from Central High School in Woodstock and Bridgewater College near Harrisonburg in 1993. Last year she worked as a personal trainer at a fitness club and also worked for VDOT waiting for a job teaching and coaching. “I finally found this one,” she said.
On Monday she had the girls working on dribbling and guarding skills and learning how to do lefthanded layups. This year’s team has six seniors, two juniors, and two sophomores. They will play a scrimmage at Warren County next Wednesday, August 31, and then open the regular season with a home game against Coach Conklin’s alma mater, Central, on the first day of school Tuesday September 6 with the JV game starting at 6 p.m. and the varsity game following.
She said the girls’ skills are improving rapidly since practices started. “I think it’s going great,” she said. She will also be teaching physical education and drivers’ education.
