A challenge which created great confusion on my answer sheet was to count the churches between the Amissville post office and “from here until you go inside,” besides answering another 18 questions along the way. Kids, be sure to study your math; you’ll need it in a situation like this.
Driving through the back roads of Amissville, edging on toward Castleton, I especially liked the questions “Where the sun might vacation” and “You ain’t just whistling here.” Those two were answered with Golden Retreat and Dixie Meadows.
When we pulled up in front of the Forest Grove Baptist Church to count the panes of glass on the front of the church, Douglas counted nine and I counted 16. Hold everything! We made a quick U-tum, actually brought the car to a standstill for a minute, and recounted, agreeing on 16. \
On Route 729 heading back to Ben Venue, there were some really tricky ones. All sorts of answers came in for “How many dead trees on the hill?” Apparently, Frank Huff used his binoculars to peer at the trees, and said that one was split in half. So how do you count?
