A group of approximately thirtyone met at the mouth of Wharton Hollow for a trip to the old Kayhill place, formerly the Keyser homestead on Red Oak Mountain. The owner, Mr. Paul Barkley had three weeks previous given his permission for today’s event.
Mr. Barkley had also given permission for the road to be cleared for passage up the hollow. Two Saturdays were spent in the undertaking by Daniel R. Keyser, his wife, $allv, their son, Danny, and their graroson, Josh.
Mr. Daniel Keyser, son of Mrs. Addie Keyser of Washington, Virginia and the late Robert Lee Keyser was host and narrator. Supportive comments were made by Mr. Keyser’s brother and sisters.
Robert and Addie Wharton Keyser moved to Red Oak Mountain 4n 1932. They left the place for awhile, returning again in 1938. In 1938 they bought the thirty-seven acre farm with all its appurtenances for $500. The family remained here from 1938 until 1943, selling and moving to just outside Washington
