County-Wide Cleanup in Swing

County residents are encouraged to tackle the trash along the roadsides, so that Rappahannock County is again clean this Spring. A cash prize of $100 is being offered to the individual or group who collects the most roadside trash, as judged by Hunt Harris of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center. The contest runs through Sunday, April 28. For free heavy-duty orange plastic bags in which to put the trash or for more information phone Mr. Harris at 675-1879.

Community Concert Continues

For the final event in the current season of this area’s Community Concert Association, pianist-humorist, Dale Gonyea, will appear at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at Culpeper County High School. Gonyea is said to be a “young Victor Borge” and his performance will appeal to those of all ages. This event is offered as a free bonus concert for all new subscribers to the CCA’s 1996-97 season.

One may join by arriving early in the lobby of the Culpeper CHS on April 23 and obtain a pass to attend the performance. The entire subscription series was described in an earlier issue of this media and includes four concerts in Culpeper and eight more in Manassas and Fairfax. Immunization Offered

The Rappahannock County Health Department is offering fee Kindergarten Immunizations from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, April 30. Please bring your child’s shot record. Kindergarten physicals will be offered by appointment.

Other immunization clinics will be offered throughout the summer. Fees for physical are based in income, but all immunizations are offered free. Please call 675-3516 for more information.

Dance Scheduled

The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will sponsor a dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. The group will be River Bottom. You must be 21 years of age or older to attend. A dress code is required. For more information call Sheila Scott at 927-4357.

Benefit Auction Scheduled

A benefit auction will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at Daniel’s Storage Buildings, off Route 666, just past Walmart in Culpeper. Saleable donated items will be greatly appreciated. For pick up contact Tom Reese, 825-2800, proceeds to go toward the Vickie Groves Dodson Liver Transplant Fund.
