Dort and Reinhardt Lynch voted for changing the ban. Mayor Willis, Mr. Skowronski, Charlie Tompkins and Steve Critzer voted to keep the current guidelines.

Ms. van Dort reported that the town is continuing to pump almost twice as much water as is being metered. During March 1.2 million galls were pumped and only 650,000 gallons were metered.

She said she did not believe all the lost water was because of lines still to be replaced. She said she believes much of it is being allowed to spill from the reservoir. “It takes energy and chemicals to pump this amount of water that is being wasted,” she said.

Mayor Willis reported that the town hopes to start work on the extension of new lines soon and to finish by the end of June when VDOT is scheduling repaving for town streets.
