sidered four potential locations For a new post office for Amissville. They approved two and turned down two, one across Route 635 from the proposed new location. At that time they indicated they would prefer that a village use, like a post office, be located on the south side of U.S. 211 and closer to the heart of the village. Nevertheless one of the sites approved was on the north side, in the current More gasoline station.
With a new Postmaster General and change in administration in Washington, nothing was done to pursue putting a new post office in either of the sites approved by the planners as all plans for new post-offices were put on hold. Recently the Postal * Service asked for new bids for a 15year lease for an Amissville Post Office.
