A grassed waterway is one several methods of helping to control erosion. This practice applies to areas where there are natural drainageways or low areas in the land. “One way to keep land from eroding into a gully and preventing damage to equipment is to keep those problem areas in grass,” states John Jeffries of the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Run-off from hills that is spreading over the land and causing erosion and making it difficult to work could be funneled into a grass waterway.
